The daily dose of 6 hard capsules (equivalent to 12 mg loperamide hydrochloride) should not be exceeded.
Children over 12 years of age:

The daily dose of 4 hard capsules (equivalent to 8 mg loperamide hydrochloride) should not be exceeded.
Application method
The capsules should be taken whole without chewing and with a sufficient amount of liquid (e.g. 1 glass of water).
Duration of treatment
DIAROSTAD can be taken for no more than 2 days (see also item 2. Take special care when using DIAROSTAD).
If diarrhea still persists after 2 days of treatment, stop taking DIAROSTAD and contact a doctor.
Note:
Loperamide-containing medicines can be used for more than 2 days only if prescribed by a doctor and under immediate medical supervision.
Please note that it is necessary to replace the loss of fluids and electrolytes (salts) caused by diarrhea. This is especially important with children! If necessary, ask your doctor or pharmacist how best to replace these losses.
If you have the feeling that the effect of DIAROSTAD is too strong or weak, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
If you have taken more than the required dose of DIAROSTAD
If you suspect an overdose, please contact your doctor immediately so that he/she can decide what to do. To treat the overdose, he/she will apply the necessary countermeasures according to the symptoms of the overdose.
Symptoms of DIAROSTAD overdose include the following complications:
Constipation;
Intestinal obstruction (ileus);
Toxic effects on the central nervous system (neurotoxicity), such as convulsions, apathy, drowsiness, involuntary movements of the limbs (choreoathetosis), impaired coordination of movements (ataxia) or respiratory depression.
A note for the doctor
Because DIAROSTAD has a longer duration of action than naloxone, repeated administration of naloxone may be necessary. Patients should be observed for at least 48 hours for possible reoccurrence of symptoms of intoxication.
Gastric lavage may be helpful in removing remnants of unabsorbed drug from the stomach.
If you forget to take DIAROSTAD
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
If you have stopped taking DIAROSTAD
Be sure to consult your doctor before stopping this medication. Otherwise, you may jeopardize the success of the treatment.
If you have any further questions related to the use of this product, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.
